With tears in her eyes
And in heavy sorrow
She stares at the world,
But the world pretends
Not to see her pain;
With a face of desolate numbness
She sits by a solitary window
To look out at the dark skies and rain.

Two horses stand still in deafening silence. They begin a slow walk as the carriage of the fallen is drawn. A sea of black follows behind in solemn state. Sobbing can be heard as tears fall from sorrowful eyes. Black satin gloves and silk kerchiefs wipe the tears away. The walk is not long, but the anguish of separation is fully realized in those final moments. Hands are held and comfort is given. Behind dark shades and black veils, the streaming of tears is endless. The manifestation of sorrow in it’s rawest form causes the heart to break. The red and teary eyes of the sorrowful gaze off into the distance in trance like state. In silence, their hearts cry out to the heavens in search of solace and healing. Doves are released; their whiteness is contrasted against the blueness of the sky. A red rose is thrown and a final prayer is whispered.

Weary souls seek refuge
To come in from the cold
From dark and perilous nights,
And fierce and dogged fights
As they walk into that light
Oh, that divine and wondrous light,
And no more face that night,
That dark and treacherous night;
Where sleeplessness abounds
And sorrow and misery are found,
They were once in anguish bound
In torment they were bound,
But now have found their way
To that promised and glorious day
In peacefulness and light;
To the world they say goodnight,
In tranquil rest they say goodnight. -
Black veils draped over weeping faces
The slow singing of hymns
The recital of scriptures
Sorrowful eyes take one last view
The closing of the final chapter
Crying and wailing ensues
Flowers and a large photo tower over lifelessness
Carved and varnished wood is draped with soft cloth
Six men line up in stillness; three on each side
The white gloves of the pallbearers clutch metal against wood
The lifting of the departed
The rolling of wheels down a narrow aisle
A long pause before another heave
The fallen is carried
The cargo is loaded
A constant flowing of tears
The long ride – -
No one can relate to his pain. In darkness he sits, while contemplating the story of his life. The relentless agony; the hurt and sorrow. The strife. He would say a silent prayer, but his prayers haven’t been answered as of late. Walking on a razor’s edge, a gust of wind could be the deciding factor of his fate.
The plight of the sorrowful is a long and winding road through the depths of hell. They claim to love him, but their definition of love is frail and without depth. They speak with forked tongues and whisper poisonous words in dark places. Their hearts beat with the blood of treachery and the darkness of their souls have devoured them. He sits and witnesses their demise from afar, as they unknowingly descend into the very pit they have made with the folly of their deception.
The kissing of lips and tender moments, the intimacy and sharing of love that existed in his memory, have been reduced to rubble. All that is left are sorrow, anxiety and perpetual suffering. The lonely are forgotten and cast into the deep sea of insignificance. Who will hear his silent cries? As he walks on, his cross grows heavier and heavier; love has been a dream, and happiness a prayerful wish. The heaviness of his sorrow is enough to crack the foundations of the earth, and the measure of his pain is enough to fill the seven seas.
Despite his travail, there is still love and a unique passion and warmth in his heart. He survives with raw determination and the memory of his mother’s face is glowing light. Still, rest is not easily found, as he walks into the darkness to face the terrors of the night.

Of life’s trials
The billows of tribulation
I deeply inhale;
The hot and putrid smoke
Ascends from the dark abyss,
It burns my nostrils and blisters my skin
As it tests my will;
With tears in my eyes I will fight;
I will not relent,
For the winds of hell shall not prevail. -
In transfixed state
I lie awake,
A cawing crow
Predicts my fateI hope to cross
The burning fire;
The bridge I walk
Is fraying wire. -
In pain I dwell
With terror near;
My spirit dim,
And wracked with fear;On anguished nights
I seek relief
With solemn eyes,
And tears of grief;Inside a room
I lie awake
With trembling heart
And tempted fate;I will survive;
I will survive;
I whisper under
Darkened skies. -
There is a time
In life we know,
The depths of pain
When sorrows flow;Inside my mind
Is where you’ll find
Where fires burn,
And billows blow;I’d found a dream
In blessed light,
Till darkness robbed me
In the night;It pulls me down;
It pulls me down;
With cruel intent,
And silent sound. -
A dream is realized, every time I stare into your beautiful eyes.
I have looked into your soul, and I have seen your salient cries;
Soft and emotional kisses are given as I wipe the tears away from your eyes.
I will hold you in my arms for an eternity,
And I will love you endlessly under the starlit skies.
